These limited edition framed 20" by 30" canvases of Matriarch are hand embelished with metallic leaf and chalk pastels- making each print uniquely one of a kind. I created Matriarch in honor of Grizzly 399, affectionately known as the Queen of the Tetons and perhaps one of the most well known mama bears in history. She inspired thousands even before she emerged from her den in 2020 with 4 cubs in tow, reminding many of us of the promise of new life and new hope in the midst of hte pandemic. She was far more than "just a bear" for many, and even for those who didn't feel that same connection, there is no denying she was a strikingly beautiful animal- a reminder of the power, grace, and rugged vibrance of the Rocky Mountain West.
